okie, let me start with a word of happy birthday to our dear brother bear far away in aussie. i actually typed this sentence before 12 midnight, but i took quite awhile to post this, so by the time it gets post, i reckon its 14th oct already.

sept 11, a day that showed the evil of human nature, but it also brought out the goodness in humanity which we forgot could exist.

yes, u've guessed it. went to watch WTC today. sorry esther! thought that i would catch the departed today, but apparently its m18. darn. so in the end, caught WTC wif cy and peili. but they didnt rlly enjoyed the show. cy couldnt take too depressing shows, and peili was expecting more out of the movie. haas, but both of them thought that the movie wasnt too bad... that's what i hope...cause i rlly enjoyed the movie!

perhaps its due to the anxiety felt by the family members of the lead, John McLoughlin and Will J Jimeno, when they're trapped at ground zero, it reminds me awfully lot abt the times we were worried abt my dad's condition when he just finished his operation last year. there's nothing u could do to help but to just wait. i'm much more fortunate as i still get to see dad, but they have nothing and could only hold on to the strand of hope that John and Will are still alive.

i have to admit there's not much climax in the show, as the whole storyline is more or less known. but the part which i think is worth watching the truely the self sacrificing spirit which can be seen in many heros of 911. it also shows alot of the "american spirit". despite the fact that i dun rlly like bush, i haf to admit the american spirit is a very positive attitude shown in the movie. talk abt propaganda. but i guess this film is just a personal recount. nothing fancy, just simple and straightforward recount of a survivor.

before the credits were shown at the end of the movie, it showed us the death poll of 911. 2749 ppl died. 23 were new york city cops, err....so on and so forth. i dun rlly rmb the others. however, it created an impact. as many of us know, the second gulf war started shortly after 911. instead of maintaining peace, gulf war to me was an act of revenge. and in the end, it cost even more americans' life. is it worth the sacrifice? not to mention among those who are attacked, majority of them didnt plan nor participate in 911. the innocent are always the first sacrificers. darn.

well, it's a pretty thought provoking show. i hope that all of us benefits from the movie, learnt a lesson or two from it. however, just before i end, i would wish to impress on the point that 911 hasnt just cost thousands of lives lost, countless families being broke up, but it has adverse impact on the survivors too. image how many ppl spent countless nights re-living the day of hell in their nightmares, how many firefighters and cops suffer from respiratory disease and problems after the terrible ordeal, the kind of mental and physical torture soldiers who went for the gulf war must endure, etc.

this is definitely not the way to peace. den wat's gulf war abt? if its just abt getting back, revenge and political gains, its definitely too high a price to pay for.
