ha, today had music sharing in our youth grp and it was rlly interesting to hear debbie share abt christian comtempary rock music. it was great to have praise and worship with a team of musicians and song leaders made out of SOARERS. heh. not to say tt we're gd, but i think it was a good try to begin with. for eg, terry(guitarist) and cosina(drummer) were putting there recreation musical skills to use in tuanqi. cheeyang continued to be stuck with the bass. haha, cause he was the only one who knew who to play bass. debbie and esther were the song leaders:)and just tonight as i flipped thru this week's copy of times, i came across this article entitled "jesus christ's superstar". it highlighted the exact controversy tt was brought up in today's gathering. the dilemma brought up in the sharing was whether comtempary rock music is acceptable? (okay, very summarised) and the article was abt pastor mike huckabee(a bass guitarist) who i think incorporated some elements of the rock music into christian music for evangelical purposes but of course there were alot of discussions abt his act. i dunno, but my take is tt as long as the lyrics content fulfill the bible's fact, it shld be okay. afterall, whether u say it's too controversial or not, what matters most is whether the song's content glorifies God's name right? doesnt hymns for the children sound simple too? and cheeping called me yst:) he's doing alright in NS but keep him in prayer lar, pray tt he could adjust to NS life. alvin also smsed me yst and asked to keep him in prayer, pray for his nerves. sorry alvin, i dun rlly get what u mean but i'll pray for ur peaceful slps. arh, though it's just 1 week, i'm beginning to miss them already. haha. |
